Session Overview

I would like to recruit volunteers for our Board of Directors, IT Management, Marketing, and Financial Management. We produce software for animal rescues, shelters, and sanctuaries. We have a new version that will be market ready in a few months. But we cannot market this software without a stronger organization to support it. We're very small, we have a president and an accountant/bookkeeper. We use contract programmers for our development efforts. We need to build out the organization just as we're building out the software. Do you think we should recruit a board first and then recruit the other needed personnel or should we recruit the personnel and then concentrate on electing a board? I would just like some advice about how we should go strengthening our organization then possibly a volunteer or two to help us do this. Would someone talk with me about this? Thank you.

Nonprofit Overview

We help animals by helping the shelters, rescues, and sanctuaries that care for them, with the aid of our low-cost, feature-rich software application that improves record-keeping and operational efficiency and supports fundraising efforts to improve their financial stability, All fees for TYR software licenses are reinvested in our product. To minimize operating costs, we function with volunteers and contractors and have no employees.

We started developing an app for shelter record-keeping in 2007. Since then, our TYR software has grown in functionality and design, and now we are looking to increase the number of users. To do that, we need to increase the size of our volunteer team and that is why we've come to TapRoot.

We have an excellent product, an informative website, very competent software developers, and a small team of dedicated volunteers. We are looking for additional animal-loving volunteers who are willing to dedicate a few hours each week to the challenges of growing a non-profit organization and supporting a world-class software application that enables animal shelters, rescues, and sanctuaries to achieve their goals.
